Reverend Patrick Lernell Dennis was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on November 19, 1970 to Ms. Jessie Pearl Dennis. He is a graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport. Rev. Dennis holds an Associates Degree in Sociology from Southern University-Shreveport, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.
Rev. Dennis was baptized in 1978 at the Magnolia Baptist Church in Vanceville, Louisiana by the late Rev. John Henry James, Sr. Rev. Dennis was licensed to preach in July of 1988 also at Magnolia B.C. He was ordained in Newport News, Virginia at the Friendship Baptist Church in March of 1992 by the late Bishop Willie James Hilton.
Rev. Dennis served 3 years in the United States Navy on board the USS Enterprise, and upon returning to Shreveport, he was called to pastor the Mt. Zion B.C. He served there from 1995 until 1997.
In December of 1997 Rev. Dennis was called to pastor the Bright Star Baptist Church. Pastor Dennis was the youngest Pastor to be called at both Bright Star and Mt. Zion. In 2001, He led Bright Star in a major relocation from Cedar Grove (where the church was founded in 1922) to its current location at 3330 Meriwether Road in Shreveport. There the church family enjoys a 10-acre campus, which includes a gymnasium, softball field, and a worship center. He has led his congregation to experience tremendous spiritual and exponential growth through a commitment to the Vision given to him from God.
Rev. Dennis has founded many organizations and ministries following the vision and using the gifts God has given him including: Youth Explosion Ministries, Inc., Friday Night Hoops, (Helping Our People Excel) HOPE Program, Boys-2-Men-istry, Destiny Center of the Bright Star B. C., Destiny Camp-summer youth camp, and the Destiny Care-after school tutorial program. Rev. Dennis is also founder & CEO of Pee Dee Ministries, where he shares the gospel ministry with the world through media, CD’s, Video’s and DVD’s.
Rev. Dennis is a much celebrated and sought after preacher who has traveled all over the nation to preach the gospel. He has a passion for ministry especially youth & young adult ministries and men's ministries. A dynamic speaker, singer, and musician; Rev. Dennis uses all his God-given gifts to draw men and women to Christ. He is a member of several local and national organizations designed to enrich and empower the community including, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., where he serves as past chaplain for the state organization (Unified Omegas of Louisiana), Baptist Minister’s Fellowship Conference of Greater Shreveport, and Baptist Missionary & Educational State Convention of Louisiana.
Rev. Patrick L. Dennis is a husband, father and grandfather. His favorite scripture, which was also the text of his first sermon more than 30 years ago, is I Corinthians 15:10~
“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
